Ships and Dips is a cruise run by Canadian rockers the Barenaked Ladies. On this years cruise BNL songwriters Steven Page and Ed Robertson both hosted acoustic Songwriters Panels featuring John Darnielle (The Mountain Goats), Melissa McClelland, Luke Doucet, John K Samson (The Weakerthans), Boothby Graffoe, Mike Evan, Butterfly Boucher, Chris Murphy (of Sloan), Alan Doyle (of Great Big Sea), Brian MacMillan (of Thin Buckle), Craig Northey (of Odds).
Footage from both shows have been posted on youtube and it looks like the format works really well. The highlight for me is John Darnielle performing a track called 'Surrounded' that he tells the audience he is soon to record for the often discussed but as yet never realized side-project with his producer John Vanderslice.
